Rhododendron Delight…..a colourful Farewell to Scotland

B1

Blue skies and sunshine welcomed our last day in Scotland for what has been a great 4 weeks tour.  The last 4 days have been here at Balbirnie Park, an ideal base for exploring the Fife Coast.  Our caravan has been resting amongst the trees in this Victorian Arboretum surrounded by Rhododendrons.  Very colourful surroundings with the promise of even more colour to come.  We head south towards England later today and the planning of the next trip…….so whilst we travel homewards (via Cumbria) here are a few more colourful delights from Balbirnie……..

    1. Ayrshire has many good spots for Rhododendrons. We used to use a caravan site in a walled garden at Kilkerran (loved by a Mr.Bruce) and in May surrounded by Rhodo’s. Sadly it closed due to being just too far off the beaten track! These are in Fife and surprisingly in the shadow of Glenrothers!!!! but I think for most places visited this trip we were just that little bit early to catch the best of the blooms….still there is always next year.
