WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – REFRACTION

LENS-1

The LENS by UNUS SAFARDIAR

This weeks Photo Challenge is Refraction ( https://wordpress.com/read/post/id/489937/91304/ ) so I am cheating and using images I captured of a very talented Sculptors work of art.

Refraction is something as photographers we use to capture our images everyday we click that shutter button…..the Lens is our link to that image and it capture.  But here a very talented Artist has created a unique Lens  and with it a Sculpture that constantly changes….. with the light.

Last October I was lucky to visit an Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition in the wonderful surroundings of Chatsworth House Gardens .  There were some quirky but also some fantastic installations on display.  Not sure which was my favourite (too hard to choose) but The Lens must be way at the top of the list.  Unus Safardiar has combined all the attributes of a lens, which is over 7ft tall, with some fine engraving and used the combination to reflect and view the landscape in which it was installed. Every viewpoint was different, each shift in light added a new dimension and of course Refraction worked is own magic… magic to see and marvel at in an equally enchanting location…..

Lens-3.

My only regret is that it is very hard to capture all that magic of The Lens …with my lens, it is very much a case of 2D presenting a rather inadequate view of the 3D reality.

If the idea of Outdoor Sculptures appeals the take a look at the other installations that were on display in my archive :-  ( https://davidoakesimages.wordpress.com/2013/10/25/ )
