Crinodendron ….. or Lantern Tree.
It has been a very odd year in respect of seasons and weather. Now I know that is a bold statement to make but in our small part of England (an even smaller part of the World) it is true. A mild winter followed by a record breaking dry and warm spring then a summer that merged ever so slowly into an autumn of muted colours.
It has produced some surprises. The Lantern Tree above just like the Gardening Books describe has only ever flowered in late spring and very early summer. This year it was a mass of flowers……Now in November it is full of flowers yet again, a real treat and a bonus.
Look also at the image below. No, it is not a late summer shot but another unseasonal looking landscape….not what one would expect for November. The Oak is not showing any noticeable change to autumn colour and this Birch still has plenty of leaf cover….

One worry is that so far this autumn I have yet to find an Oak with any Acorns.

If only I could send you a couple of large boxes of acorns. 🙂
