REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

I always have a rather sad, but also a sinking feeling, on both Remembrance Sunday and of course on the 11th November. Sad for all those who have given their lives in Conflicts. That feeling I share with an even bigger sinking feeling, that globally we have not learnt any lessons from such bloody conflicts….war and conflict continues, the atrocities seem to get even more terrible.

This year 2014 we have also been looking back to 1914 and the start of what  later became known as the Great War. Throughout the year many organisations and individuals have marked this centenary in many imaginative ways….but for me this wood carving of poppies, in a fallen Cedar Tree, was so simple and memorable….creating a place for contemplation and remembering.

We should never forget such  a tragic loss of life
