The Lower Lighthouse, Fleetwood, Lancashire

Known as the Lower Lighthouse (sometimes The Beach Lighthouse) and standing at only 44ft high this rather squat Lighthouse is unusual and stylish in its neoclassical architectural style. Built in 1839 it is one of two lighthouses commissioned for the then new port of Fleetwood Lancashire. The Lower Lighthouse and a much taller Pharos Light were designed to work in tandem, shipping needing to line both lights up, one above the other, to secure safe passage to the port.
