If you go down to the woods today….you may be in for a big surprise. Well this morning I am none too sure who was the most surprised, me, the young Red deer or Buster who just stood frozen to the spot. So a quick grab shot was all that was possible before the Deer ran, Buster barked in surprise and I breathed again!
It is also that time of year when food sources are getting scarce for our woodland friends. Fungi is near the end of its season but what is there is getting uprooted and gnawed at in the hope of finding some sustenance…..
Other fruits of the forest, in this instance berries are few and far between this year. These are the only Holly Berries I have seen so far this winter….
Yep…the woods are always full of surprises.
