Dawn at Skippool Creek, Lancashire
Delving into my Odd Box today I was rather pleased to find this image of Skippool Creek. Skippool Creek is also one of my favourite places…though this last year I missed out.
Dawn on a rising tide is always a great time to enjoy this little spot on the River Wyre, off Morecambe Bay, in Lancashire. Although it looks a rather stark location and indeed rather run down it all adds to the rustic charm.
Quiet as it is today it once was a busy little port. For it was here and at several other similar creeks along this river that emigrants set sail, in precarious sailing ships, on the dangerous journey to discover a new life in the New World of the Americas……their last views of England being these stark mud flats.
Looking again at the image I thought that I would create a Canvas image….I hope you like.
( “THE ODD BOX”. The Odd Box , is especially for Odds and Ends, it is the file where I drop those images, that I have not processed earlier in the year as part of a series or project or simply lacked time at that moment, where they can be safely stored. I can then go back to them at leisure, explore and see what surprises await)
