The Nine Ladies Stone Circle, Stanton Moor
We arrived early at the Nine Ladies. There had been a sprinkling of snow, enough to give ground cover but not enough to drape the trees. The morning sun was still low casting long shadows and a mist hung in the Silver Birch. The silver/white trunks of the Birch contrasting with a clear pale blue sky. To me it suggested a scene for Black and White.

Snow ought to be good for something?!

When it is fresh it looks fine after folk have been tramping and sledging looks a mess(-:

Fabulous, David. I just switched the TV off after Alan Tichmarch’s British Isles. Plenty of the stuff in the program but very, very interesting. Great to see Dick Mol in it as well. Him being Dutch and all. Just a little pride of me. Alan showed boulders in Yorkshire that were brought all the way from Northumberland by the ice.
About this great photo – virgin snow sprinkles look like icing on a chocolate cake… 🙂

I remember that series…surprised it is still going the rounds as it was 10 years ago or thereabouts when it was first shown. Still it will not have aged…though AT may well have!!

It may not be on the grand scale of Stonehenge but it is still a magical place full of atmosphere
