………………Was that Winter ?

Beech-in-Snow

Dawn Allestree Woods.

We had snow yesterday.ย  In our part of the U.K is was only the second snow fall of the winter.

Whilst more than just a smattering it was far from the heavy falls that were forecast.ย  But as the sun cracked the horizon it managed to light up the bent Beech and add yet another wintery dimension to them.

As the sun climbed higherย more of the woodlandsย developed a warming glow and as the temperatures slowly rose so did a hazy mist that seemed to cling to the top most branches in the Silver Birch Wood….

Big-Wood-Snows

By the evening the white covering had all but gone, melted in to the soft ground below.ย  So one has to say…if this is the worst this winter can get then we haven’t fared to badly……and it is the start of February on Sunday.

  1. Yeah, reading from the Southern Hemisphere, our hottest month is Feb, wondered if your coldest is not Feb too? Your last sentence sort of made the point I guess.

    1. Often it is….too many folk think that winter is December and January….but many years have shown February to be the worst be it rain, gales, snow or ice. We wait to see. Enjoy your warmth…..glad you were not bragging about it (-:
