Monday….and its High Noon
High Noon and that is as High as the sun gets this February day…….but I wonder if this round of spring weather is just teasing us, tempting us to imagine those spring and summer days ahead.
Even the early morning sunshine, as it starts to cut through the woods, looks inviting lighting up the Yew Trees.
The Yew is an ‘evergreen’ but despite the winter ravages still manages to look fresh.
That’s more than can be said for the Sycamore Wood, dead leaves unmoved by the winter winds, still litter the floor….the bare trunks standing straight and unbending…..
Whilst the Sycamore stand tall and for the most part straight not all trees in the wood appear as sturdy.
This old Beech has no doubt seen several centuries pass it bye. But not sure just how long its creeping roots can keep it standing. Its precarious angle is not the only threat to its stability as it stands on an earth mound that is threaded with both a large Rabbit Warren and a Foxes Den…..
Todays brilliant sunshine is very welcome and does lifts the spirits….you even get the impression that nature is stretching out for its warmth.
But it is far from warm in reality. The Lake is still a frozen reminder that the thermometer has yet to climb. Its frosted glass like surface littered with branches that once the thaw starts will soon vanish beneath the surface again….
But two bright sunny “Spring Like” days cannot be bad…..and being greedy, we would very much welcome some more!

Thanks…..hard to recall just how high it will eventually rise by mid year. But its progress…
