Red Campion and Cow Parsley are the current STARS…..
Red Campion
Two days of warm sunshine after, lets just say’ a rather damp start to Spring has now created an explosion of green growth in our hedgerows, lakeside and woods.
But that green is also punctuated with spots of colour be it Buttercups, Daises or Clover. Even Rhododendron are now flowering in the woods….they are of course not the bright and blousey Hybrids to be found in our gardens but the humble wild Purple variety that the Victorians planted in the Parks and Community spaces…..I call them the ‘Civic’ Rhododendron and in my view just as attractive as the Hybrid.
But the stars for me are two prolific wildflowers…the Reed Campion and the White topped Cow Parsley. Delicate in appearance but very hardy and a joy to add to our daily walk.
