The Forecasters said it was going to be wet, cold and blustery….they were right. They also reckon it will be towards the end of the week before we can really say that ‘Flaming June’ has arrived!
So it was just as well that we took advantage of yesterdays sunny and warm weather. We walked the woods, riverside and buttercup meadows….even pottered in the garden. Did the soul good and lifted the spirits….
The woods are now dark, the leaves blanking out the sky, spooky silhouettes of tree trunks and other walkers add to the mystery…
Once out of the woods the colours of the country side just bounce out at you, green just starting to darken from the first flush of rich spring greens. Yellow becoming dominant and contrasting with the blue skies and in the garden it is the blues and purples that are starting to make there presence felt……
You could be fooled into thinking that summer had arrived…Buster certainly thought so and was rather disappointed when walkies came to an all too early end….
But he had no complaints when calling it a day meant stopping of at the Park Cafe for refreshments….nor were we alone on such a great day….
Roll on ‘Flaming June‘ and a return to summer days…..

Buttercups… millions of them. How I would wish to lay myself down between them and see them dance in the breeze and seeing bees and bumblebees visiting them after which they zoom zoom zoom away again. A summers day in late Spring. Same weather forecast here as well. And on the 21st of June: Litha. Midsummer. 🙂

The field of buttercups or is it a meadow? is beautiful. Such a swathe of yellow across the landscape.
