Longest Day…Shortest Night
It is all down hill to winter from here on…..
Shot a couple of years ago at 11.45pm on Mid-Summers Eve when it never went fully dark.
This is Loch Greshornish on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
Even the keen birders were still out scanning the Loch with their binoculars.

Thank you….even the midges were few that evening (or maybe they had gone to bed!)

You were lucky then with so few midges. 🙂 I remember Scotland somewhat different. Sleeping in B&B’s with a mosquito net around my bed. 🙂 but getting stung in the early evening and even during the day. They really seemed to like me.
As for the Summer Solstice, tomorrow will be a modest celebration as the weather is pretty cold and will be wet tomorrow, according the weatherman. For your information the song about the Pagan Solstice:

Happy Solstice everybody and Summer will come. Probably in August or so… 😉

Nope. Didn’t. Plenty of rain overhere but then again it was really good as the soil was getting very dry.

Been a strange year…we seem to have had more than our due share of rain yet the ground still seems to dry so quickly.

We always keep an eye on the weather forecast for Scotland and it does seem you have had the worst of the Spring/Summer weather ‘so far’. Not been brilliant down here either best described as inconsistent though we were lucky and managed 8 days proper summer over on the coast Yorkshire. Off to Iceland and Norway in 4 weeks so fingers crossed

It’s like a beautiful golden age painting. The light and details are fantastic.
