Moody Monday…… Could be a Refreshing start to the week.. or maybe Not!

Loch Dunvegan, Isle of Skye, Scotland

The night sky slowly clears along with the rain. The early morning sun makes a spirited entry burning, away the wisps of remaining mist .  Will it last or will it turn back to rain.  Highland weather can be fickle.  They do say…. If you wait 5 minutes the weather will always change. 🙂

It may be Monday and it may be moody but…

Moody Monday…… well maybe not

Disc One

Mid Summer, Isle of Skye, North West Scotland

Just before midnight yesterday, we crossed the Summer Solstice… so you might say that today is the first day of the rest of this year.

Yesterday, in anticipation of the Solstice, I posted an mid summers eve picture, shot 2 years ago.  So as we can still celebrate the Solstice, todays image is one shot on mid summers eve some 6 years earlier.

The loan fisherman and I had stood silent, just watching the sun vanish beyond the horizon, waiting for midnight.  Despite the midges it was a magical moment.  I suspect that the afterglow remained to be subsumed by the dawn that would soon follow.  After all Scotland may not be the land of the midnight sun…..  but certainly the next best thing.  Not that I waited for the dawn…. sleep beckoned.

Moody Monday…. The Old Man

1a_00044DOI_5025bbb

The Old Man of Storr, Isle of Skye, Scotland

Not every Monday is Moody.…. put this particular Monday afternoon was rather more than just moody.  It was also a great example of how quickly the weather, over the West Coast of Scotland and most definitely over the Islands, can change so quickly.  The morning had been so full of promise.  But then again, if it hadn’t changed we wouldn’t have witnessed the drama over the Old Man.

At the start of another week….please

Wordless Wednesday…… Another Favourite Place

Red-Cuillins,-Skye

Location:-  The Isle of Skye and the Cuillin Mountains. Scotland

Regular followers will know of my love for the Isle of Skye.  There are many great views of, and then on, the Island.  But this view is one of my very favourite views.  You have crossed  “Over the Sea to Skye”.  Then after you pass through Broadford and head up the A87, you suddenly turn a bend on the road.  There, right in front of you, is your first real panorama of the Cuillin Mountains. The Black Cuillins are on the left whilst the Red Cuillins are to the right, reflected in the waters of Loch Ainort. On a sunny Skye morning the mountains look rather benign……  but make no mistake they can be, and often are, the complete opposite.

Care is always needed in the Mountains, but wherever you are
