In the shade of the ancient Oak new young growth is flourishing on the old trunk…
It might be an ancient specimen but it is still fully productive as the branches are laden with a massive crop of Acorns.
I suppose that is a true sign that Autumn is on the way. That is a hard concept to grasp as you wonder through the dark woods where the sun fails to break the leafy canopy….
So it was a bonus weekend to enjoy what is left of Summer whilst recognising some of the signs that autumn is not that far away…
And at the end of the day, no dramatic sunset just an nice easy calm over the Lake..

P.S. This Monday morning it is back to dark, very wet day….which makes the weekend even more special.

Beautiful photographs David – autumn is here at last 🙂

Beautiful David. Pity I cannot use them anymore for my wallpaper. All of them give me a white ‘frame’. But I can anjoy them on your site and for my wallpaper I turn to Google. 😉

I’m very much in tune with the concept of ancient specimens still being very productive, and hope that we may continue to count ourselves among them!
