Saint Valentines Day….

Just in case you were forgotten….Here is a Valentine Card just for you (one for the Ladies and one for the Gentlemen)

Two Victorian Valentine Cards (circa 1880’s) published by Raphael Tuck and Sons, London

Plus another of the same era but one more intricate having the décor punched out like a paper doily  to look like lace….this one is showing its age….

  1. These are beautiful, David! Thank you (I don’t have a Valentine…).
The bottom card is really divine…look after it! I quite like these olden times greetings, much nicer than modern ones, if I may dare to say.

    1. You may dare say so…..the print skills were not as of today but that simplicity just adds extra character. I do note that in the past few years more cards are being hand finished with what I call ‘fitments’ and that seems to be putting a bit more character into todays cards…….AND you now have a choice of Valentine!

  2. Really lovely cards, David. I never get a Valentine. In my country it is seen as another way to make you part with your money. Expensive flowers that will be half the price again next week and same with special cakes with roses on top and pink icing and such. Historically, our people here are belonging to the the Dutch Reformed Church. Rather old fashioned and stiff (is that the right word?) in opinions. Strict is a better word maybe. If really meant I love the messages people send one another. I do love the bottom card. Very precious item. Is it an heirloom? Hang on to it. These little treasures from the past are fading way too fats.
