  1. Those shapes on the sand look as if they could be fossilized remains of ancient trees. And, are those people or birds I see in amongst them?

    1. It is designated as a site of Special Scientific and Interest for its Geology and Botanical values. The rock is for the most part Devonian Slate and the shapes have been created by sea water erosion. Those are indeed people so I guess it give you and idea of size. The underground geology of this Cornish coastline was once rich in minerals…Tin being the most well known, but also Coal and Arsenic.

        I’m sure the minerals are still there, somewhere. All of the UK is fascinating in that regard. You must have been either in a plane or at the top of a very high hill to take this pic, David!
