A Long Hot Day…and a Long Trail
The day was long, hot by Scottish standards and very, very humid and the trail dusty. But even so a hike down Glen Muick (here above Loch Muick) on the Balmoral Estate, Royal Deeside was worth every step of the way….even though those near the end seemed extra hard.
The English have an Old Country saying that describes such a walk….
“It is a long Lane that has no Pub in it”

Beautiful photo, David. I love the rich colours.

We had missed the best of the Heather on the hillsides so it could have been more colourful …..but it was a marvellous day, surrounded by mountains, beside water and with broad expansive views.

Not a bad spot to enjoy some rare autumnal Scottish weather….and no midges (well not until late that evening)

The climbs are not too steep yet you are right in the mountains, great views and lots of spots just to stop and drink in the views 🙂

My goodness. It looks idyllic. Heading that way in September. M

That is possibly the best time (this was a September shot) though the heather will be past its best. Head to Muick and you walk in the footsteps of Queen Victoria. Enjoy
