A Victorian Christmas Card, circa 1902, featuring the timeless Holly as decoration and of course delivering an equally timeless message. As Victorian Cards go, this one is rather small, a single flat card measuring 4×3 inches
Now I know that some folk are well organised and have made a head start on writing their cards, I also know that some folk now prefer E-cards and even others who deplore the custom.
Well, I still believe in both the sending and receiving of Christmas Greetings, reaching out and hearing from friends far and wide.
So I will be busy this weekend Writing the Cards…

Then a trip to the Post Box to send them on their way….

Call it a ritual or maybe a custom…. one I hope will continue for many more years to come…. giving pleasure.
Enjoy your weekend… and as always…
Please Remember ….
Stay Safe …. Be Kind…. Look After Each Other

This was/is a wonderful thing and also so precious too for human world. I am thinking as you dear David, everything is being lost in this new world… I also love(d) postmen too… we don’t have then anymore… Thank you, have a nice day and Merry Christmas, Love, nia

Not a chance David – I am afraid I am a bah-humbug and I am looking forward to spring – via the winter solstice as it will be uphill from there

I too look forward to Spring… and yes, I rather hate the drab, wet, winter days…. and despite my venerable age I am still not a fully fledged humbug member.

In all honesty that is a very credible position unlike myself – for whom there is no hope for 🙂

I just sat down yesterday and finished preparing my Christmas cards. Got some lovely Christmas stamps and in the mail they will all go tomorrow. It makes me a bit sad that folks don’t send Christmas greetings via mail any longer. An e-card just isn’t the same to me. And I’m truly a “dinosaur” because I also write a Christmas letter to enclose in our cards.

There is also the sad aspect…noting those who are no longer with us…and the older one gets that number grows. But love the continuing conact over.the uears.

Yes, I was just saying that to my husband as I prepared our cards. My card list has diminished from what it once was because so many are no longer with us.
