Misty Days….a P.S.

Yesterday I included a shot of Dog Wood Berries in the post.  I mentioned that it was not one of those autumnal signs that I was that familiar with. Indeed when the Cornus has fruited in the past it has only been the odd cluster, whilst this year they are a profusion of fruits.  Judging by the number of email comments it would seem that my view was shared by many. An unusual event, all the more so when this season has not been noted for fruit and berries.  So here is another shot of this pearl berries….Cornus

I don’t want to insult the Dog Wood but for most of the year it is a rather insignificant shrub, often used as a screen, a corner filler.  But in the autumn the leaves take on a new character, then once they fall, they leave a beautiful bright red network of branches (though there is a variety that has bright green branches).  This year it has surpassed itself.
