Weekly Photo Challenge: Nostalgia

I don’t reckon you can get much more nostalgic than this.  A few years ago I was asked to photograph the interiors of Hatfield House, Hertfordshire, one of our oldest and historically important English Houses. The home of Lord Salisbury the head of one of the most influential families in English history,

This room is my favourite (and there are a great many to choose from)….it is the Marble Hall.  The portraits on these walls also tell the story of English monarchs and are a wonder within themselves.  Note the Minstrels Gallery and the Tapestry wall coverings.  If this room could talk it could tell some tales…tales that may not have reached the history books.

Hatfield House The Marble Hall

IF you ever get the chance to visit just one of England’s ‘Stately Homes’ then this is the one….re-live some history.

I was also very fortunate as this shot was taken just after the Hatfield Flower Festival, so the Hall looked even grander than usual with the addition of floral displays.
