After all the dull grey, dank and miserable days of late, it was quite a surprise to wake yesterday to find blue skies and sunshine. So with flask filled, sandwiches packed in the Rucksack Buster and I headed of to one of our Derbyshire Dales to stretch our legs. Nor were we disappointed the sun stayed with us all day and just for once it was warm.
Trouble is that when you pinch a day out of your work schedule it does mean that you have to catch up afterwards……which means only one image from yesterday to show at the moment.
Monsal Dale with the River Wye was the start of the days exploration and as you can see no shortage of water in the river.
The River Wye is a beautiful river but as you can see man has been busy over the years trying to tame and control it and like many of the Derbyshire Dales it has endured a colourful history…. so with luck I will bring you some of the background in the next post.
