Saint David’s Day (Dydd Gwyl Dewi Sant)

March the 1st may well be the meteorological first day of spring but for Welsh peoples all over the World it has far more significance….it is their Countries Patron Saints Day dedicated to Saint David. No doubt there well be many celebrations all over Wales and beyond were expats are gathered….enjoy.

As for the first day of Spring it is rather ironic that we wake to the heaviest frost of this winter! Not of course that many of us accept the meteorological need to split they year into equal seasons, preferring instead the true seasonal change as defined in the Astrological calendar…..the Vernal Equinox being the 21st March for the northern hemisphere. 

* Yr Wyddfa (or Snowdon in English) is Wales highest Mountain with a height of 1085.  The Snowdon Horseshoe is a ring of three linked mountains.  Y Lliwedd  and Crib Goch with Yr Wyddfa at the centre
