Blencathra, The Lakes District, Cumbria
The end of day one on our brief stop over in Cumbria. The sun sinking below Blencathra (also known as Saddleback) reminds us that the Lowther Estate is selling this mountain! Penal Death Duties are forcing the estate to divest itself of some of its assets. Now if you have £1.75 million to spare it could be yours…..though it does beg the question ‘just how do you value a mountain’ and one of the Lake Districts natural assets and a national treasure?
The sunshine we enjoyed in Scotland didn’t travel well and the day was a grey start but at least dry…..
Honister Beck, Honister Pass
By mid afternoon just a little of that sunshine had managed to catch us up at Ennerdale to bring a little more cheer to another Cumbrian day….
Tomorrow we head for home. So to highlight what will be our last day in Cumbria we will see the return of ‘Wordless Wednesday – Favourite Places’ with a special Cumbrian images,
