Weekly Photo Challenge: Treasure

Ellip-2

We have no antiques in our house (that is apart from me!) but I suspect like lots of families we have collected knickknacks, bits and pieces over the years, mostly collected as reminders of places, people and events in our lives…of no real value to others but treasurers to us.

But some are of course ‘hand me downs’ through several generations.  This Elephant is my prize, my treasure. I was told by my Mother that it was passed down to my Grandmother by my Great Grandmother…. so that dates it to sometime in the 1800’s.  It isn’t valuable, whilst the metal does have a silver content it is not silver.  I also guess that it appears larger on your screen than it does in real life as it measures just over 3.5cm from trunk to tail. At one time it had a pair of Ivory Tusks but those are long gone as is the tip of the trunk. But that isn’t a problem for me…..its my treasure
