For the first time this winter the Lake is starting to freeze. As the sun rose this morning the temperature was –1c . Admittedly the ice is still not that thick but it is a start. The autumn leaves that have been floating on the surface will now soon disintegrate and when the ice thaws sink to the bottom, for the time being they form a colourful mosaic below the ice……

Love this time of year! I’d also really like to see some closeups of the autumn leaves under the thin ice–but surely that’s already in your plans, right?

Didn’t have time to linger this morning but you are right it is on the ‘To do’ list! But snow is forecast so we will have to see.

The first fragile ice. How beautiful captured! With the wonderful colours of autumn caught between the to states. The reflection of the sun on the ice adds a compositional element that brings more life to the picture.

Thanks. It was a rush this morning and I did want to get back to try some close-ups of the leaves under the ice…but events took another turn. I hope there will be another chance prior to the leaves fall apart.

Beautiful, it almost looks like a Monet.

IF only it was a Monet…I could sell it for a small fortune!
