Thin Ice…………and just a little Snow

Snow-D

The Lake had warning signs arround it this morning, not surprising as although it has been cold the temperatures have not been that far below freezing….so the message is clear ‘stay off the ice’..

In fact the Lake is covered with a thin layer of slush.  It isn’t surprising when you reflect on the weather for the past few days….now this sounds strange but it has snowed for the past 4 days ‘but’ it hasn’t.  I know that sounds daft but what we have had is a constant mist of very fine wet flakes that you cannot describe as snow, sleet or rain…..very odd. But no matter as it has still left a fine covering of white over the fields and trees…..

But as you may be able to see here the snow just hangs in the air like mist

Now if only the sun would break through…it would be wonderland!

  1. Sun breaking through? Ye3s,l I fully agree. In my younger days I used to go grouse hunting in the mountains and regular as clockwork the first snow came sept 17-18th. During the day the sun melted away some of the snow and brought the colors back to the trees. Beautiful. And in a matter of days it was all over . . .

    1. This is our first few days of snow this winter and in our part of the U.K. still not that heavy….so being mid January I don’t think it will last (unless there has bee a significant season change). Climate change…who knows!?

  2. Not having experienced snow in my life these images are brilliant. I keep paging through them. Well captured.

    1. I sometimes forget that the world is so big and that some folk have climates and season so different from ours. We don’t get that much snow where we are in the U.K. but enough to be both pretty and at the same time a difficult for travel. Glad you enjoyed the shots.
