April 6th and the sun shines bright, no wind and it is actually warm…yes warm, what a change. Rowers were out on the Derwent getting rid of their pent up energy, training for the new seasons races.
In the gardens little shoots of colour were bursting into life at long last……
But despite these little colour coded signs that spring may be on the way, the trees still look as if they are in the grips of winter, bare and bleak sentries of the season supposedly past….
Whilst there were no takers for the bench, it was still much to cold to linger, there were still plenty of folk out enjoying this welcome break from the winter gloom….
The long range forecast is not that encouraging. The experts reckon that this is a mini break in our winter weather, we still have a further 2 weeks of winter before there is any real change….So the rowers get on with their training whilst they can……..

Aaaah! It’s about time. Let’s hope that the forecasters may be somewhat mistaken and that the warmth is finally here to stay.

Awe, noo… no more cold and wintry stuff?? Ooh, I di feel for you lot there. It is definitly changing overhere. Today it’s Spring. Tomorrow again much wind from the East and the followung days above zero at night, around 10-11 during the day but stond Southern and South-Western winds bringing more mild temperatures and also rain en wind. I think that this marks the end of our wintry ordeal. Hope this will come to you soon as well. Although wind and rain are usually not too pleasant, they do mark the end of winter seriously. Hang in there! Great photos. So lovely to see spring flowers in full bloom.

I know our winter is not nearly as bad as yours, but I’m ready for the summer! Last year we were in the pool before Easter weekend..

It would have helped if we had enjoyed a good summer last year, but it was a summer and autumn of record rains…not to mention dark grey skies. So we just drifted into winter which in turn has seemed to drag on and on! On the positive side I imagine and hope that once spring does arrive it will arrive with a burst of colour and energy and invigorate us all
