WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE… One Shot – Two Ways

Well here are two separate takes on this weeks photo challenge…I think both fit the prescribed instructions for submission….anyway here goes.

The first shots are taken in Tallinn, Estonia.  A narrow cobbled street with medieval tower and high city walls.  Should it be a landscape……

Tal-1-L

or a Portrait shot? Your choice…..same time, same place yet the atmosphere very different but both equally acceptable.

Another interpretation of the brief may be one subject taken from opposite directions, each shot very different and able to tell a different story.  The next two shots were taken in the 13century church of Marienkirche, Rostock, Germany(east).  The church itself houses many treasurers and artefacts including these two enormous medieval bells….

Bells-1

Bell-2

One shot very much about the bells..the other places them in the church under the enormous Basilica.

Again your choice.

  1. For details (light) I think nr 2 is preferrable to nr 1, David
I would suggest cropping 10 mm on the top as well as in the bottom as it would alter the format of the picture somewhat, but – it’s your photograph and your decision alone 🙂

  2. I would have gone for the last one, David. But since you couldn’t get the whole arch in the photo, I don’t think it will do for such a challenge. I agree with Seenorway.on number two but leave the bottom as it is. Because of the door on the right. If you take away from the top right up to the 2nd white pillar on the right. Preferable not all the way. Cutting off the pillar would mean cutting off a bit of the cross on the tower.
Now, I cannot make such beautiful photos like you do. I am well aware of that so when you decide to forget all about my ideas here, I would most certainly not feel upset. 😀 – GOOD LUCK!!

    1. I think I share your view. Both have a different feel but the portrait does emphasis both the height of the tower and old defence walls (mainly because I was able to use a slightly longer focal length of lens which foreshortens the view)
