It has been a wonderful but strange summer and autumn for the garden. The dry, hot weather punctuated with the occasional shower have kept the flowers guessing. Normally by early November we have ‘winterised’ our herbaceous borders. Not this season, so much still has a good deal of life left and it would be unkind to cut down just yet.
We did have a mild frost overnight but it didn’t appear to do any damage to those flowering blooms. This delicate bloom is on its third showing of the year….normally we get only one full flush. But three times it has produced new flower spikes this year. True each has been less vigorous that the previous but none the less attractive for that…..
None too sure but I think it is a member of the Stachys family. I am afraid the built in RAM in my brain is overflowing ..access is allowed, but it is very random in its selection from the memory bank!

Good still life, David. As to your RAM, my seems to be getting more & more random!

As my walking pal always tells me. “He has forgotten more than I can remember”

Lovely photo… wouldn’t it be nice if we could choose what we wanted to remember and forget the rest?

Yes it probably would….but if we never had bad moments to remember how would we know when we had a good one!

Random RAM – great metaphor, and I love the image even without the proper naming.
