The Colours of Autumn……… have arrived at last

DV7

The full glow of Autumns colours has arrived at last.  Much later than usual for our native trees and much later than the more vivid reds of the exotics with which in a normal year they blend so well. No matter, they have arrived and the next question will be ‘for how long’.  There are few places better to view the colours than the wilds of the Upper Derwent Valley and area of water, moors and well wooded slopes…….Beech, Birch,Spruce and Larch plus a few Oaks are the main species of the woodland, so join me for an autumnal afternoon stroll through the valley….

Frost is promised for tonight so I guess it will soon start to take its toll of the foliage and we will start the decline into winter.  Heading for home in the falling light, after such an invigorating autumnal day, winter was for now far from our immediate thoughts…..

    1. It was a magical day…what I cannot share with you is the ‘fresh, sweet air’ that was so invigorating. May be one day when technology adds that to our digital cameras menu!!
