High and Dry….. The Importance in a Name

WYRE

This old wooden Fishing Trawler has no doubt seen many harsh times out at sea and no doubt earned its owners a good income in its working lifetime.  Now high and dry, with paint peeling and rot starting to eat into the thick timbers it would appear to be someone’s restoration project….Indeed a very challenging restoration project that seems to have had a rather hesitant start.   But the name on the vessel is ‘Good Hope’……a very fitting name for a Fishing vessel and equally as fitting for a restoration project.

  1. The beautiful golden afternoon sun certainly makes ‘Good Hope’ seem a romantic restoration project. The stories she could tell !

  2. It looks like “very challenging” is quite an understatement. The person undertaking the project must be one of the most incurable optimists one could imagine.

    1. Truth is that there are several other boats (and I use the term loosely) that are being ‘restored’ ….and have been for a number of years. I suspect they never will be completed and optimistic may be the polite way of saying they have bitten off more than they can chew! Still it keeps them out of mischief.
