A Friday Find…An Antiquarian Bookshop?

Antiquarian-Bookshop,-Laugharne

You could argue that this is an ‘antiquarian’ Bookshop or is it a shop selling ‘Antiquarian’ books.  I hope, and expect, it is still in business but it is a couple of years since I last visited.  Certainly a shop of character and well worth a browse. It is located in Laugharne ( roughly pronounced Larn), Carmarthenshire, South Wales.

I suspect we will hear a good deal more of Laugharne over the later part of this year….let me give you a clue.  The town is situated on the River Taf and inspired one of Wales most famous sons, poet and writers and it is claimed that he drew much inspiration for his writings from the town and its characters. In particular his work “Under Milk Wood” was based upon Laugharne.  If you have not guessed it is Dylan Thomas and Wales will be commemorating his birth 100 years ago this October.  More on Dylan Thomas nearer the time.

  1. Beautifully processed. Are they electrical wires across the face of the building? I know old buildings in UK are notoriously hard to wire but this would not be allowed in Australia 🙂

    1. Nor would it be allowed here. the wires you see are telephone wires and TV aerials. I suspect that the building is sub divided in to flats so the need for individual phone lines

  2. Fabulous! Darling little shop – a place I would not have been able to walk past without stopping in. You captured it perfectly and your edits are fantastic!
