We live in an age where signs do seem to proliferate….Towns, Roads, Shops, even the countryside, in fact just about everywhere.
Whilst visiting a ‘Rural’ Museum I did start to wonder as to who decides which items/artefacts should be labelled with explanation notices.
Important providers of informative as some of these signs really are, I couldn’t help thinking that at times it was just labelling for labels sake! Take this loop of rope in the Stables……no doubt it has seen ‘active service’ and is ‘as attractive’ as a piece of rope over a stable door ever can be, was it that important a feature to be individually highlighted… Did it really deserve such a creative plaque? Perhaps some Restraint is called for.
