In the U.K. and across a good deal of Europe, today is traditionally Mothering Sunday, now more often called Mothers Day. Unlike many places in the World, Mothers Day in the U.K. is on same but varying day each year. Confused…well no need. Mothering Sunday is one of the very old Christian Festival, dating to the 16th century, and always occurs on the 4th Sunday in Lent. As this is dependant upon the date of Easter which on the religious calendar varies from year to year, so does Lent and so does Mothering Sunday.
