Another sure sign of Summer………

Foxglove1

The weather may well have been wet and stormy for the past week but there are still some positive signs that summer is really here.  This is the first of what will be many wild Foxgloves.  They have a cycle of setting seed, producing foliage in one year then the following year along comes the lofty flower spikes…then the following year the cycle begins once again. For a wild flower they are rather majestic more in keeping with the country cottage garden….but on our woodland walks they are an added bonus.

After all the thunder storms and heavy downpours our woodland walk was remarkably dry, a landscape that yesterday looked bruised and battered, today looks full of the vigour’s of life…..not a hint of this weeks gloom….
