Location: The Castle of Mey above the Pentland Firth, Caithness, North East Scotland. It was also the favourite Castle and summer home of the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. I am led to believe that this was also her favourite part of her garden.

I have visited it once but it was poor day to say the least – this is gorgeous

I think you need to try again, it is well worth the trip. Late summer the garden is perhaps at its best. I mentioned wind turbines on your blog. Well one wind farm that does seem to blend with the landscape is not far from Mey. Tormsdale, just off the A9. A great backdrop of the flows and on a clear day those ‘big’ mountains over in the west….all that space seems to dwarf the turbines and to me they seem to fit in.

I understand what you mean by blending in – although I seem to have stirred some emotions. The blending in also depends on where you are in relation too them. If viewing from afar against a larger scale landscape they are fine if however they dominate the view from your house window (that is different again). Castle of Mey does look fantastic but you are spot on the gardens and some bright sunshine will determine just how good. I want to go along the top coast again but it is trying to fill it all in. I have been up and down to both Livingston and Fort William in as many days and I am jiggered when I get home. Planning to get a small caravan next month to allow me to be out longer and further afield (plus the right time) so we shall see.
