Location. The Snowdon Horseshoe from near Capel Curig, North Wales
On Wordless Wednesdays I usually post a picture of one of my favourite places, give a location and that is that. But on Monday I photographed this elderly gentleman sat on a rock. He was from the Philippines touring the U.K. Here he was in Wales and totally mesmerised by the mountains, lakes, rivers and all the greenery…..and all so easily and safely enjoyed. Apart from the scenery he was fascinated by the upland sheep wandering freely across the hills. For him and his family it is best described as magic….. but for me it was a realisation on just how much me take for granted in our familiar surroundings.
Apologies for so many words on Wordless Wednesday

What a warm, lush and welcoming photo David. Pus that rock in the lower left work great to anchor the image and that person provides a wonderful sense of scale. What a delight to experience. Thanks. Rick

A magnificent view I am very familiar with it is some scene with the horseshoe bowing down to be viewed – I have a shot from quiet close to here possibly wet film – with the lake frozen solid and pinky blues everywhere – if only I could have captured it with the kit I have now – gorgeous David

Me too…..it was on old Kodachrome 25 and faded a long time ago. A once in a lifetime shot at dusk with ice and snow and a sky that had cleared after a very dull day….but there you go!

I went searching for my original digital file – took it with a Nikon D50 (6 mb) but I was only using Jpg in 2009 grr – still there is a little latitude in the shot I took – but the file reacts badly to editing with noise predominately – so for me it will have to do also – ce’st la vie.
