A dull start to the morning soon reverted to sunshine and blue skies, we are getting used to this September fooling us into thinking summer is still with us. Mind you we are watchful of the low slung Jet Stream that brought so much cold weather to North America, at the moment it is pressing eastwards towards us here in the U.K. but at the moment not making much progress. So we continue to enjoy our morning woodland walks keeping a watchful eye open for those ever increasing signs that autumn is not far away. Fungi are one of the sure signs of autumn and more clumps have sprung up overnight…just like magic….
The Oak remains defiant with its canopy of leaves still vibrant green cocking its nose at any encroaching seasonal change….

Thank you…..we have been experiencing some low sun with high contrast and a warmth I cannot recall in other years (apart from at sunrise and sunset).

FAB photos, David. You encouraged me to go out and make a bit of a bike ride (walking is difficult with athritis) through our local wood (which is more of a park really) and enjoy the coolness under the trees but also great Autumn smells.

It’s so great to be able to be out and about at this time of year. I’m happy to see (yet again) that that you share my fondness for fungi.
