Things have Thawed out rather quickly
This little group of Woodland Fungi seem to have survived the recent snow and frost quite well, still glowing in the morning sunshine, clinging onto this long dead tree stump.
It is only 14 days since the winter solstice but already the sun is starting to climb in the skies, its morning glow now reaching parts of the wood that have not enjoyed its rays for nearly a month…..

The Lake also has a very different feel about it. Yesterday it was frozen solid….today it is just wind swept creating waves….
With the warming sun catching the skeletons of trees it cannot be that long till once again we start to see those new shoots that become leaves once again……

Happy 2015 everybody!
Winter brings a lot of surprises. Such as is described on this site: https://granthamecology.wordpress.com/2012/01/26/winter-buds-id-part-1-londonthorpe-woods/
It’s good to see these ‘winter buds’ being ready for spring. 😀
Wonderful photos again, David. There just might be a new wallpaper for me among them. Thank you.
