An Un-Seasonal 20th December

Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice where we cross the time border of the winter year and in theory for those of us in the Northern hemisphere the days should gradually start getting longer once again.

But as I and many other bloggers have commented this year the seasons have not gone to time.

Leaf-Fall

To help prove the point here we are on the 20th December and “autumn” leaves are still falling littering the now sodden ground with their carpet of colourful shapes.

But today also provided yet another bonus.  After weeks of heavy rains, wind and dark grey skies we woke to a wonderful surprise…..Blue Sky.  The few wispy clouds soon dispersed in the breeze which was also dispersing the last remaining seeds from the Silver Birch…..and as yet not a hint of a frost or real winter weather

Silver-Birch

A day that lifted the spirits and with the Solstice looming large on our seasonal calendar it was a real bonus day….. and the promise maybe of a short winter
