A White Christmas….Not this Year…..

Snow-over-Derbyshire

Not even a sprinkling of snow to grace our countryside.

This last week we have bounced between temperatures of 14c to a high of 17c, ridiculously  high for December in Derbyshire, England.  Dropped a little to a low of 5c on Christmas Eve but that was a mistake as its back to double figures again.

Global warming they say, and maybe correctly so……however they also report that this is a record warm December, the warmest for just over a 100 years….so I guess they had global warming in 1900.?

On the other hand we may just be skipping winter this time around.

And a Reminder             …ONLY 364 days till Christmas

26th December

  1. Today, I think especially of the people in Cumbria. Again flooded. I so hope that this ‘jet stream’ of whatever weather people call it, will change its course and also that El Ninjo will be ready warming up the oceans which are both in fact 2 major causes for the continuous hard winds and the seas of rain falling on the first land the clouds encounter after travelling accross the Atlantic Ocean. I wish them strength.
Contrary to all the rain, today we have sunny weather, combined with a stiff wind but it does drag people outside their homes. There is play in the park with the little ones and with dogs of all sizes. The road is busy as people are on their way to visit parents and grandparents and friends to celebrate Boxing day. Have a wonderful Christmas weekend, everybody.

    1. here in our part of the Midlands we have missed the floods…..heavy rain true but so far not that bad as to cause disruption. But many new areas in the North West outside Cumbria have been hit hard this time.

  2. No white Christmas here either. Unseasonably warm weather, but I remember the same thing happening a few times when I was a child and I sure wasn’t around in 1900! 😉 As always, I enjoyed your lovely photo.

  3. Nor am I yet that ‘old’ but like you I can remember Christmas being far from cold. This year whilst warm is marked by heavy rains…….I that maybe the snow would have been better!…..never satisfied
