Church of the Holy Cross, Ilam, Staffordshire
The snowdrops may have gone but spring has definitely come to the village of Ilam, in Staffordshire close to the Derbyshire border. The distinctive Saddle Back Church Tower and Pepper Pot Lodge Gate Tower always make for an attractive country scene….especially on a Sunday.

Wow. The greens and blues are so vivid here David. Really nice photo. Would you mind if I tried to sketch using this as inspiration?

It is at the Lodge Gate of the Large House that is also on the site. As was the still nothing could be built without some style to it so a Pepper Pot design was used for what is really a very utilitarian gatekeepers lodgings.
