All be it sparse there are signs that Autumn is here as this rich golden glow of a Maple Leaf carpet shows…..
Even more autumnal was the dark damp and misty start to each day this weekend……..
Even though the dogs and I were up and off early there were signs that golfers were up even earlier (god knows how they saw were their balls went)…..
The woods were just a little eerie as the mist swirled between the trees….
Eventually the sun started to burn its way through the mist and stated to bring the woods to life with its colours……
Fungi has started to flourish in the warm damp woodland glades and a couple of old stump plays host to even more Fungi…….
The Dog Wood (Cornus) has stated to fruit. It must be a good year for this woodland shrub as I cannot recall ever having seen so many of the pearl like berries on the bushes…..
By the time we had left the woods the sun had started to create a warm glow and offering great prospects for the rest of the day. Here the sun highlights the Beech in its autumnal coat of gold…..
Back at home the Roses are still trying to give of there best but I fear the best days for them have gone, though the odd bloom lingers on…..
Meanwhile in our conservatory the Aechmea has started to flower. A plant more used to hot tropical climes it seems as if we can only coax it into flower every other year….
The sun has remained with us for most of the day but now as evening approaches the mist has started to descend once more….Yep it is autumn!
