No taller than 4cm these little wonders of the Fungi world have sprouted overnight. Smooth domes of gold yellow glistening in the dawn sun…..not up on Fungi, so I cannot tell you what variety they are nor indeed if they are safe to eat… but some small creature has obviously had his teeth into these – no doubt a tasty breakfast for him…..
The season progresses but the woods send out mixed visual messages. The morning sunlight streaming through the canopy still has the feel of a early summers dawn……
Then we find Chestnut leaves very much on the fade a sign that autumn is upon us…….
It is also amazing just how quick it is in its arrival. I passed this young Beech Tree yesterday and there was no hint of a change in colour….yet to-day it is a subtle tone of gold contrasting with the green Birch backdrop……
I wonder what changes we will find tomorrow?
