A Dazzling Start…….

After days of grey damp starts this morning was bright and cheerful..  A bright Autumnal sun cleared the horizon so we headed off to Big Wood for an early quick walk…too good an opportunity to miss…

_DSC9559_00012qqq It was the turn now of Silver Birch leaves to glow on the woodland floor adding warmth to those areas of the wood, where the sun probably wouldn’t reach, now that its arc is so low in the sky……

It must have been early, once we were out of the woods, there were still no one about.  Makes a change, a change that left Buster rather puzzled….nobody to play with !

As for the day that started full of promise……  well, we had the best of the day.  The sun decided that playing ‘hide and seek’ would be fun……  it spent much more time hiding, just teasing us occasionally.

No matter the weather……

With an EXTRA Hour today….it was no time to hide indoors, not when the sunshines

So we gained an hour last night as the clocks stood still.  The big surprise this morning, was that the sun was shining and we enjoyed lovely blue skies…. not what was forecast, after yesterday’s monsoons it was an even bigger surprise.  It was so bright that even Buster was anxious not to waste a moment… that stare whilst we enjoyed our breakfast did work its magic, so off we went

The season are moving along and that sun, although bright, is now a good deal lower, long shadows and bright highlights…… all add to the autumnal feeling in our woods, after yesterday’s rains this morning’s warmth has brought out those familiar woodland aromas.

Now what will the weather gods deliver for us tomorrow?   We wait to see… whilst Buster now content, dreams about the next walkies

Weekend Gold……..

From dawn till dusk it has been a fantastic weekend. The rich glow of the autumn leaves is everywhere.  Nor is it at the moment cold, we have an unseasonable warm spell, which makes tramping through the woods even more enjoyable…and the smell as you crunch your way over the golden carpet is stimulating even though you realise that it is the signal that winter is on the way.

The low angle of the sun remains with us all day which only adds to the golden glow of autumn.  Clear skies meant a swift temperature drop at days end and with it a mist start to form. Swans on the lake basked in late afternoon sun and the shadows once again extended adding there own character to the day.

As dusk fell, the shorter days suggested we should reluctantly make our way home.  But the setting sun made sure we waited till it faded away…perfect
