The snow remains fine and damp but still managing to leave a suitable covering to turn our world into Black and White….
Grey skies and a smattering of wet snow on the ice of the lake give it a dark and forbidding look. Nor did the sun even try to break through the clouds today (well you cannot have everything but a small chink would have been nice). Despite the impression of a deep covering it is in fact melting as you watch so unless we have a sudden drop in temperature it will not last for long. Still enjoy it beauty whilst it lasts……
This old Gate Post has possibly stood in this spot for over 200 years. It is a testament to the hard graft and craftsmanship of a time long gone. The stone shows all the tool marks of the Mason and whilst well weathered could I reckon be put back into service tomorrow and still be standing in another 200 years.
Whilst it is understandable that there are no takers for this woodland bench this morning I doubt very much that it will have a life as long as the post.
Our progress through the woods was closely watched, it kept its distance but this little Robin Redbreast followed us along the trail, every time we paused he paused then would puff up his feathers to keep in the warmth. I just hope he manages to scavenge enough food to see him through this cold spell.
Meantime, Buster and Carla just think that the snow is a lark, confident that they will soon be back in the warmth with a bowl of food not too far away..
And for Buster that really does mean comfort……
