Whisper it……..is winter on its way out?

A little sun this morning did a great deal to brighten the woods (and my mood)…..dare I suggest that the worst of winter has passed.  Probably not, there is bound to be a sting in its tail.  Still the sun did add a welcome touch of colour to the woods and the early snowdrops…..

Even deeper into the woods, where the winters leaves are still providing plenty of ground cover it had that feeling that life was on its way back…..

Snowdrops may well be the only flowers to grace the woodlands at the moment but I for one welcome the fresh blooms, blooms that are much more robust than they appear…..27.2.b

Bluebells will not be in flower here for at least another month but even so the first shoots are pushing through the leaves that have provided a warm blanket for these early shoots……

On the edge of the woods there are further signs of new growth.  The Variegated Holly is rapidly making new growth….

27.2.d

The new buds that the Rhododendron set last year are now starting to swell soon to burst with there big blousy flower heads…

But if its colour you want to add instant joy to your garden then its down to the Garden Centre where Spring Bedding is now in stock…..

Or maybe a new pot to brighten that dark corner will do the job….

Undoubtedly ‘Spring’ is on the way and for these young Scarecrows, all done out in their Sunday Best, they obviously have their eyes on something (or someone) very special……

…..A young lady no doubt and I reckon it is this ‘White Goddess’ that has turned their heads….27.2.q

Despite the bountiful riot of colour to be had I think I still prefer the natural colours of the winter woodland wonder land…..
