Frayed arround the edges….

A little frayed arround the edges, well I am not surprised after all the rain and winds we have had over the past week…….yet this Rose survives and still does its very best to shine

Even the more delicate Japanese Anenome is putting up a brave fight against the elements…..

In one corner of the garden we have some dwarf Hosta’s.  June is when these little beauties flower, but this year we have a second flowering to add little sparkle of colour to a dark corner…..

But not all is sweetness and light…..in the woods we have seen several large well establish Horse Chestnut Trees succumb to a fungal infection.  It was detected last year but this tree struggled on producing its usual head of large splade leaves, so distinctive of the Chestnut.  Then about 6 weeks ago it started a dramatic loss of leaf and one day it suddenly collapsed all 20 meters of a once majestic tree down, broken at its root….

Autumn usually sees Chestnut leaves dry and turn golden but some seem to be blighted with a spotty blotch as they turn…..we just hope that this is not yet another harbinger of yet another disease…..

The much maligned Sycamore adds some of its colourful leaves to the woodland glades….

But to finish on a more cheerful note the Mallards down on the lake are enjoying the mornings sunshine……
