After such a wonderful summer the rains and winds of the last few days have been a bit of a shock to the system. Today everything is calm once more and we are enjoying a day of unexpected sunshine. The garden did take a bit of a battering but these Michaelmas Daisies have fought their way through the storms and providing the last real splash of summer colour to the borders. The bees are also enjoying the chance to stock up with some more pollen and nectar……..
The Clematis is another story. Having had a late flush of flowers the petals have now all dropped but the seed heads still offer an attractive display with a small but spectacular crown of claw like fronds….
I understand this is only a short break in the wet weather which is due to return tomorrow.
